Our History
The Garrards story is a classic one, of success through hard work and a firm belief in good, old-fashioned values. Going back almost a quarter century, to 1983, the business started with two staff and a Luton van. "I knew we needed to be flexible to match our customers' needs" says Malcolm Garrard, "so we often had to work round-the-clock, but never cut corners". In time, commercial contracts flowed in, some with high street banks, and by year two Garrards had moved into a 7,000 sq ft warehouse. A fleet of purpose-built lorries soon followed, proudly bearing a distinctive Garrards livery. The solid work ethic had been winning the hearts of loyal customers, many of whom we have served several times. As time passes some things need to adapt to meet modern demands, so, in 2007 Garrards re-launched with a fresh, brand new look. However, the fundamentals of our business have not changed; we are still a privately owned, family business with the same mission: to make moving into your new home as stress-free as possible.
